You didn't get that off of a DEA site.

ROFL!
You're too easy!
DEA Website "Meth Is Death"

You most likely got it off of reason.com, which you plagarized without giving credit to.

I could have, or I could have got it from www.mapinc.org, blog.drugpolicy.org, www.tbi.state.tn.us/, 209.157.64.200/focus/f-news/, foxgnaws.com/, www.attorneyoutlook.com/, or I could have got it from the other 200 blogs and news sources ridiculing the DEA for this outrageous propaganda.
That you can't refute the math shows all of us that we can't believe anything you say!

I really like your spiffy HTML!

"The latter site claims that "1 in 7 high school students will try meth"; "99 percent of first-time meth users are hooked after just the first try"
-- reason.com

Well, let's check to see what "meth-is-death" actually said.

First, nothing there on the 1 in 7 high school students. Then there's "95% of those who are hooked on meth became hooked after the first time."

BIG difference.

Maybe. Lies spread like wild fire among the drug crowd.

That you can't refute the math shows all of us that we can't believe anything you say!

I don't have to refute the math since the inputs to your equation are made up in order for the "math" to come out right. If you use the right input from the source you can't even do your math. Don't you realize what is happening?

Site A wants to descredit site B. They cannot descredit the info on the site so they repost it on their site. ONLY, they change it when they post it on their site knowing that most people will be too lazy to search for the original data (notice that they, like you, did not link). Then they do some 'math' on the alter data and proclaim that site B is out to lunch.

Got caught lying, huh?

And you're still lying -- the meth-is-death website is not a DEA website. It's sponsored by the Tennessee District Attorney’s General Association.

And reason.com misquoted the "hooked" statistic, just as you did.

http://www.meth-is-death.com/ is a DEA website. Our president and the DEA just kicked off the "Meth Is Death" crusade on the Official US government owned and operated Meth Is Death website.
Direct quote from the DEA Meth is Death front page:

"Fast Facts numbing numbers on the meth mess
95% of those who are hooked on meth became hooked after the first time. Only 5 percent of meth addicts are able to kick it and stay away. From the first hit to the last breath, the life expectancy of a habitual meth user is only 5 years. Authorities estimate over 700 Tennessee children in meth homes will be taken into state custody this year. The cost? 4 MILLION DOLLARS! In a recent year, Tennessee police officers shut down over 500 meth labs in the state. That’s an average of 1.5 meth labs per day. Since 1999, meth lab busts have jumped more than 3 X. Compared to their counterparts in larger cities, children aged 12-14 who live in smaller towns are 104 percent more likely to use meth. 1 pound of meth equals 5 pounds of toxic waste produced by its manufacturing."

DO THE MATH!

If he had quoted and posted a link, we could just say he was gullible. But he PLAGERIZED and altered and did not credit or link his source. Seems like radioman has a real problem with ethics.

"found that the higher levels of THC in modern day cannabis

Drug war myth...Right up there with the albino alligators in the sewers of NYC!"

It's a marketing ploy. You see what the price of a lid goes for? Hell, there are no lids anymore! I've got to steal buds from my kids stash.

That's NOT what you said before. You said, "99 percent of first-time meth users are hooked after just the first try", did you not?

YOU concluded, based on your LYING numbers, that 13.4 percent of Americans die as a result of methamphetamine abuse within five years of graduating from high school.

TOTALLY BOGUS. YOU CANNOT BE TRUSTED ON THIS BOARD.

We have proved that you have no ethics and your original MATH was all a lie since the inputs you used were a LIE.

I did refute your math. If fact, I refuted it by showing how you lied about the inputs to your math exercise.

Anyone can do that. But it is considered to be dishonest and un-ethical to do so. I wish the TN AG would sue reason.com for their unethical conduct.

I wish people would look with the same dose of healthy skepticism at these faulty studies and scare tactic propaganda that comes along with them inferring a massive wave of insanity being caused by this new super pot.

Well, that should do it. We're all here. The circle is complete.

That's the first thing I have ever seen you be correct about.

The authoritarian liberals warriors are here and the freedom loving Americans are here, so the circle is indeed complete.

Nothing you authoritarians love more than a good old circle jerk.

"Many people drink low-proof beer and wine, and very few liquor drinkers go for the 190 proof stuff."

From the government statistics it appears that most of the marijuana consumed in America is lower potency "commercial-grade" marijuana, very few are buying the expensive marijuana equivalent to 190 proof alcohol. The average potency of all marijuana seized in the United States (both "commercial grade" and sinsemilla) is just barely higher than the average potency of commercial grade marijuana seized in the United States. If most people were smoking the much stronger sinsemilla, the overall average would be much closer to the average potency of sinsemilla instead. Most go for the cheaper weaker stuff, the "beer" of marijuana.

It should be pointed out that people can abuse the lower potency stuff and get really wasted just like they can abuse beer and get too drunk. There can be beer drinkers who are alcoholics just like there can be heavy potheads who usually only smoke the lower potency commercial grade pot. And just as it is with alcohol, the majority of those using the strong stuff probably aren't going nuts on it. They use a much lower volume of it than they would if they were using weaker stuff, just like most drinking strong wine or distilled spirits would consume less of those intoxicants than they would light beer. And just like a twelve pack of Busch beer is a heck of a lot cheaper than a 750 milliliter bottle of eighteen year old single malt Scotch whiskey, the weaker commercial grade pot is a heck of a lot cheaper than the fancy expensive stuff with an exotic sounding "name brand." People use less of it both because they don't need to use as much and because it's just too expensive to go overboard on the high dollar stuff very often.

I don't understand why you guys are getting your panties in such a wod over this. Reason misquoted on the "1 in 7" figure they gave but were dead on about the "99 percent" quote on the meth-is-death site.

"First, there’s the fact that 99 percent of first-time meth users are hooked after the first try. (So if you think you’re tough enough to “try it” and walk away, you better WAKE UP!)" http://www.meth-is-death.com/ (look in the body of the text, it says 99%, in the bullet section it says 95%)

Radioman may have been wrong to quote the Reason article without checking the meth-is-death site, and he was wrong to say it was a DEA owned site. We all make mistakes. The Reason article said the DEA site includes a "conspicuous link" to the Meth is Death site. That is absolutely correct. The DEA even have a banner on their page with the "95% of those who are hooked on meth became hooked after the first time" quote. That's a patently false statement parroted by the DEA who knew better and who ought not use lies in their scare tactic propaganda because as soon as kids see that stuff and realize it's a lie they aren't going to believe all of the true things the DEA is saying about meth. The truth about meth is bad enough, they shouldn't lie and jeopardize their credibility.

Here is the Reason article: http://www.reason.com/hitandrun/2005/08/the_meth_death.shtml

Here is the DEA anti-drug website: http://www.justthinktwice.com/
*click on the "Got Meth" picture to open their meth "magazine" and then click through to "The First High" section where you will find the banner with the "95% quote" with the link to the meth-is-death site.

His was not a mistake. He went to reason.com, altered and plagerized their post and implied that he had done original work by visiting a DEA site. And it wasn't even a DEA site!
