i've been there as well...sheesh!
The US & Canada are nothing compared to holland.
But I still liked it, probably because I could always go home....
Imagine if 50% of the US population were from San Fran or The Village, and the remainder of the population is divided between friendly, decent, harmless Euro-Hobbits and angry muslim youth.
Oh, and it's colder and wetter and too expensive.
Thats Holland 101 for Americans.
Not actually a bad place, but The Netherlands are a fine example of what would happen if the left were given free reign over a country for 50 years.
Oddly, most of the kids I met were fairly sensible, but they were college students who smiled at their impending doom. A fairly nihilistic lot, but can you blame the 20 year old Dutch youth for being a tad jaded and cynical at his prospects and the future of his country?
I believe you Will. My Dutch friends here were so dismayed at what they saw when they went back to visit my friends ailing brother. They had not been back to Holland for 25 years. They said they will NOT be returning. What a shame huh? I always had visions of beautiful flower fields, windmills, Dutch bakeries etc. I know there are good Dutch folk. But the country as a whole is on a greased pole to Hell. A modern day Sodom and Gamorrah unfortunately!! CO
