Aruba Cops Arrest Two Brothers Again 7 minutes ago
ORANJESTAD, Aruba - Police have arrested two Surinamese brothers who had been previously detained and released in the disappearance of U.S. teenager Natalee Holloway, an Aruban government official said Friday.
Satish, 18, and Deepak Kalpoe, 21, were arrested along with a third person, according to Aruban government spokesman Ruben Trapenberg.
Trapenberg said he did not know if the arrests were connected to the Holloway case and no other details were immediately available.
David Kock, a lawyer for Satish Kalpoe, said he was not aware of the arrest.
The Kalpoe brothers were released from jail in July after a judge ruled there was not enough evidence to hold them in the disappearance of the 18-year-old American who disappeared on the final night of a high school graduation trip to the Dutch Caribbean island.
The brothers had been arrested June 9 along with Joran van der Sloot, 18, who authorities have identified as a suspect in the case though no charges have been filed.
A judge is scheduled to hold a hearing in September to determine if there is enough evidence to continue holding van der Sloot.
Holloway, 18, of Mountain Brook, Ala., was last seen leaving a bar with the Kalpoe brothers and van der Sloot in the early hours of May 30. Extensive searches of the island have produced no sign of the teen who was last seen in public leaving a bar with van der Sloot and two other young local men.
