On 6-11 "CNN" reports that a suspect has confessed to killing NATALEE and NATALEE was buried near the “Marriott Hotel;“ Aruban authorities deny a confession was made.
(sometime during the second week after NATALEE went missing it was reported by local Aruba media that a boat cover, tape, rope, and an anchor(s) that were near the fishermen’s hut were reported stolen.
On 6-11 STRAATEN was asked by a DUTCH journalist if he had any hopes for a positive outcome? STRAATEN replied, “You always have to be hopeful, but I don’t believe anymore that we will find Natalee alive.” When asked why not, STRAATEN replied, “Because I know the details of the investigation and you don't!”
Main Suspect J. SLOOT, Suspect D. KALPOE, and Suspect S. KALPOE retained in custody after 6-11 hearing.
PAUL REYNOLD’s told "CNN" on 7-15, “And back on the confession. You know, what was reported is somewhat vague. But the deputy commissioner report of the Aruban police, reported the boys were talking that Friday night. The next morning, the chief spokesperson for the minister of justice was reporting that Natalee was dead. The F.B.I. had even intimated to my sister that they thought Natalee was probably not alive based on what the boys were saying. So we're confident they were saying something. We don't know exactly what it was.”
On 6-11 BETH said she wrote in her journal, “Could a cover-up be involved?”
On 6-11 “CNN” reported that HOLLY BROWN was at “Carlos ‘n Charlies” on 5-29/30, and “CNN” reported further, “Holly Brown, a Holloway friend who was at the club that night, said she found Van Der Sloot to be ‘very different.’ ‘He lied about his age, and when we went on the [“Carlos ‘n Charlies”] web site, we found pictures of him there one week before at the same place, wearing the same clothes.’”

On 8-18 GOLBA had to return to the UNITED STATES.
On 8-18 “CNN” reported that the man from TENNESSEE who has the machine he contends he has detected human remains in the ocean about one mile off shore from the beach where Joran said he left Natalee has been working in ARUBA for 4 or 5 days with one of the AMERICAN private investigators (maybe WOOD). The “machine“ appears to be similar to a divining rod, which has been used for centuries to locate water under the ground. “CNN“ said that it is planned that divers will investigate the spot on the morning of 8-20.
On 8-18 DAVE HOLLOWAY said he spoke with TIM MILLER and DAVE said he will return to ARUBA the next time MILLER returns. MILLER told DAVE he is in the early stages of organizing to have bulldozers shipped from the UNITED STATES to ARUBA, accompanied by corporate-sponsored personnel, to help search the landfill more.
On 8-18 Main Suspect J. SLOOT was not interrogated.
On 8-18 in a planned event attended by several persons, an ARUBAN painter presented BETH and JUG with a picture he had painted.
On 8-18 BETH told “MSNBC” that she has been able to stay in ARUBA now because the teachers that she works with have donated their sick days to help her.
