So the President doesn't believe in a total blackout to other theories, as some supporters of evolution do, and some people diminish his intelligence. Typical.

If evolution IS the Truth let it experience competition. Let the weaker theory fall. It works in economics. It works in the political sphere where conservative ideology is slowly becoming dominant.

"If evolution IS the Truth let it experience competition. Let the weaker theory fall. It works in economics."

How refreshing!! Yet, you'll find few that will be willing to concede ANYTHING scientific regarding the ID debate. For them, it is quite simple: they know what will happen if people actually start THINKING about this stuff.

They'll start questioning what funds it.

And then, they'll find that about 80 cents of every science research dollar comes straight from .... the U.S. Gov't.

And then, they'll start asking questions, like, what value are we getting for all that expenditure?

And then, they'll start seeing that an awful lot of biologists in major universities really, really love wine and cheese shin digs.

And then, they'll start calling congressman, and say things like, 'maybe they might do more w/ less...'.

And we know that if THAT happens, then the Foundation Priests of Secularism will be forced to compete with, horrors! other Priests.

So, in short, your metaphor is excellent. In the end, it is about breaking a BONA FIDE ECONOMIC MONOPOLY, and G. Bush, is sounding more and more like T. Roosevelt. It is a good day today!

Do you mean competition among the knowledgable and educated in the appropriate field? Then evolution wins, hands down. If you want to count the opinions of the bible-thumping, snake-handling, mouth-breathing moron group, then creationism might make some kind of showin'. But then you aren't talking about science...

What are you, some kind of crazy person? Don't you KNOW that evolution, first purported by Darwin 150 years ago is FACT?! We have rock solid, experimental, observable examples of one species changing into another, better developed, "fitter" species. Everyone knows it. Everyone sees it.

Why should the theory of evolution even HAVE to stand up to any kind of test, when it is common knowledge? What a ridiculous position.

There is no intelligent designer. There is not such thing as "God", "love", "affection" or the like. These CONCEPTS--and they are ONLY concepts--are mere names we give to the chemical reactions within our neurological systems.

The sooner you wake up to these truths, the better off you'll be.

So the President doesn't believe in a total blackout to other theories,

What "other theories"? Thus far, no one has even demonstrated that other theories exist. Sure, people have asserted other theories, but when pressed, they absolutely refuse to explain how the explanation they present actually qualifies as a scientific theory. The last person who tried to explain "Intelligent Design theory" to me actually ended up admitting that it does not meet the standards of a scientific theory.
