If I were in the same circumstances as Beth, I would plaster my image all over TV too. I'd be screaming at the tops of my lungs. That's what has kept this from becoming "just another case".
For whatever reason, some families don't want that exposure.
I guarantee you if someone goes missing and a family member agrees to appear on TV about it we would be writing threads about them too.

I would guess it is because of the way some people blame them,talk bad about them , dig up their pasts , etc.. kind of like some have done to natalee and her mother.
