The choice was CAFTA or give Central America to China.

Anybody who doesn't understand that needs to learn about the inroads China is making in the countries below our border.

They understand long-term strategic thinking and chess.

"The choice was CAFTA or give Central America to China."

Agree.
The 'mis-underestiminated" Bush proves once again that he is a brilliant leader and "chess"player.
Next up, India.

The Dems were willing to sacrifice central America to the Chinese sphere, in order to hold onto a few union jobs that will soon be automated anyway.

That is the ONLY reason to go along with this (anything-but) "free trade" pile of manure. However, we're not doing anything but importing more and more China-made junk enriching the Chi-Com gov't in the process.

Who do I thank for the Internet?

Anybody who doesn't understand that needs to learn about the inroads China is making in the countries below our border.

The MSM did a great job reporting about Rove these last 3 weeks they forgot to report CAFTA to the American public.

Or was that the plan...

CAFTA's Covert Opponent: China

Snip:

But if CAFTA fails, U.S. cotton exports to Central America will come to an end, while U.S. imports of Chinese textiles—with little or no U.S. content—soar.

Snip:

Chinese diplomatic advances in the Caribbean rim include massive trade agreements and military cooperation with Venezuela. (As one retired Venezuelan admiral recently put it, “You have to see this from a geopolitical point of view. We’re no longer a country allied to the Western Hemisphere. We’re going to be allied to China or Russia.”)

____________________

Snip:

It is perhaps a minor footnote in the congressional debate over CAFTA that all the countries involved maintain diplomatic ties with Taiwan and not with China.

Snip:

CAFTA’s defeat, therefore, would be a double victory for China.

Well, Well, Well, CAFTA is a very layered political strategy. From cotton exports to Taiwan policy.

Now if Nike would produce some of it's products in Central America instead of 100% in China to import into America I'll know CAFTA works.

And finally, Communist China is slowly becoming a pain in the global #$%.

I totally agree with what you said... take it or give it to China!! Now if we could put some muscle in our border security and immigration "laws", like China, we would be well on the way to plugging the hole to maintaining jobs for legal citizens that want to work. Job problem solved too. Big picture!

Well, it's no guarantee, is it? China can manipulate it's people and money in ways that we cannot.

I undersand the reasoning behind it, but I'm not all that comfortable with it.

This bill is roughly 30% about trade regulation. The other 70% is about creating new government control over industry, and part of that control comes from outside the United States!!!

The Republican party can kiss my family's votes and money goodbye. I am offically a Libertarian.
