Wow this is an unfortunate statement, if true. There's no strategic benefit to "nuking Mecca". I would rather he said something about overthrowing Iran or the Saudis.

You need to read the koran where dear ol allah itself claims that if mecca was ever destroyed, it would prove islam to be false, ergo, no more islam.
While I do not want anyone/anything nuked, I would love to see mecca destroyed.

Well, Al Queda wants to overthrow the Saudis too so we'd be helping them out there. As far as Iran goes, being a Shia regime, I doubt Al Queda would cry too many tears over that one either.
How do we do this and not harm Israel? If we take out Mecca with a nuke where will the wind blow the fallout?
In addition, killing millions of innocent people brings us down to the level of the terrorists - we will become what we have beheld.
A massive conventional response may be more appropriate.
