Yes because you can't be very old to even ask that question. We have had an open border with Mexico since we became a nation. Here is a newsflash, at the turn of the century there were MORE Hispanics in the Southwest per capita than there are today.

Was there a big problem with our borders 25 or so years ago, like what we are experiencing now? We have had an open border with Mexico since we became a nation.

I am not referring to distant history. If you read the question, it says "Like we are experiencing now", not back during the Alamo days.
