I wouldn't think sharks would eat a whole human being, would they? Wouldn't some remains or pieces of clothing wash up? These are probably not the size of sharks that could eat a whole person.
Dr. Baden has been asked this question and said with certainty that there would be nothing left to wash up.
Lots of pieces of clothing,
shoes & towels have been
found by divers.
Sharks can and do chew a
body into pieces. One shark
grabs it, his mates soon join
in soon as they smell the blood
in the water. No more body.
I agree, it's hard to picture sharks consuming everything. You'd think shoes or bits of clothing would wash up on shore, but did the cops search it thoroughly and in time? Maybe on that side of the island the currents tend to wash stuff away and further out to sea. I can't see J and the K boys with a handy shovel in the trunk, digging a grave. They'd have to go get one, then dig the grave, quarreling all the while about getting rid of the body and the probability that they'd either be seen or heard or caught somehow. You'd think cadaver dogs would have found her.
So either she was dumped at sea, or over a cliff into the sea near where they thought sharks would take care of everything. If they had access to a boat, they'd probably have wanted to put her in a box of some sort before dumping her overboard.
Two other scenarios: She decided she wanted to swim and drowned. J was unable to save her or couldn't see her in the dark. But he wanted to help. Sadly, he walks home and says nothing until calling his pals. But in that case, why wouldn't he go for help? And surely he'd discuss this over the internet or a cellphone call to his pals. He wouldn't feel guilty, and he wouldn't make up that lie about the HI, esp. if he knew she'd drowned at the Marriot.
The other option is that drug/sex slave/prostitution fiends grabbed her as she walked back to the HI and she's not doint unspeakable things in Venezuelan brothels. This is horrible to even think about, but it leaves J as innocent, which is unlikely. So I think she's dead, probably accidentally while being raped, but then dumped somewhere J thought she'd never be found.
