Every tourist trap has its scams I suppose. When I went to Kauai for the first time I gfot there in the middle of the night. Driving my rental car from the airport to the hotel, I came across a scene on the side of the road - one man wobbling looking bloody and worn, while his friends got in the road and tried to wave me down for help. My instincts told me to keep moving. The next day I read in a local paper that is a popular scam on the island - flag a tourist down for "help" then mug them and take the car.
