It does get confusing. Good manners. Would inviting people to a New Year's Eve Party then kicking them out before midnight be 'good manners'?
Why would anyone kick someone out before ringing in the New Year? I can only surmise that it would be because the party in question is falling down drunk. (And I don't get the connection to your question and my post.)
