If 3 creeps had raped me and then handed me off to others, I think my phone call would've involved words other than "I don't know these people." "I don't know these people" sounds like someone who is concerned for their safety. Had she just been raped and handed off, the call would have been a little more hysterical and the statements about the call(s) that have been released so far would have said that she called crying or in hysterics or that she said she was raped. If it came out that she called and stated, "I don't know these people," then it also would have came out that she was crying, in hysterics, and/or raped as well. In my opinion, the phone call took place immediately before "something bad" happened to her.
I also find it hard to believe that the 3 creeps would have raped her and then handed her off to others who paused to let her make phone call. They could have shoved her into a room and locked her in there but had that happened, again, I think the phone call would have involved something more than, "I don't know these people."

You're assuming that she was lucid. If she was drugged, she may not have even realized she'd been raped at that point or even what the hell was going on. But it's all speculation and I'm beginning to think we'll never know what happened. Sigh.
Bet the Aruban powers-that-be were thrilled this morning that the story got bumped by the London attacks.
