The Twitty's are reacting to the fact that if it is true that in Aruba it is legal to lie to authorities and obstruct justice, the brothers did it at Jorans families request and there is no downside to helping their friend.

Obviously they would not lie unless they know why they are doing it. The Twitty's know Joran won't tell the truth and it is possible the brothers will flee before they come clean with what they know.

Lying and obstructing are apparently permitted so long as one does it EFFECTIVELY = i.e. destroys the case. PVDS is one effective man.
