What is the court thinking...

Attempting to convert a Muslim to Christianity in Saudi Arabia is a felony.

Accessing western news web sites can be a felony in lefty places like China and Cuba.

Singapore has many sever penalties for minor crimes/mischief.

Sharia Law is practiced in one form or another all over the world.

Those are just the examples I can think of off the top of my head. Although they weren't the court's rationale of due process and legal representation.

Prostletizing (sp?) a non-official religion is a capital crime in many countries.

Golfing without a license is illegal in Germany.

A single empty cartridge can get you a life sentence in Bahamas.

Voting in Saddam's Iraq was compulsury; voting for the wrong option meant terminating your family.
