We all agree that he is one of greatest President, do you happen to know what was his position on illegal immigration? You know the answer for that. It was amnesty for the illegal immigrants in the US. So why making Bush like the devil when it comes to illegal immigration.
One hallmark of Reagan is welfare reform. It was key to his success as governor of California. There is no doubt in my mind that any immigration reform today, if Reagan were in charge, would include an end to government subsidies for migrant workers be they ILLEGAL or "guest workers."
Any plan of President Bush's will have to end subsidies for businesses' "cheap" labor.
Everyday here in California it's news of health care crisis, health insurance cost crisis, housing crisis, education crisis, state and local budget crises, highway and street maintenance crises, energy crisis, you name it -- and no one will ever convince me that the millions and millions of people who are not suppose to be here have no blame for our crises. Gov. Schwarzenegger attempted to address that recently (first time publically!) and he got creamed. This ain't 1986 no more.
Bottom line: Any plan of President Bush's will have to put an end to subsidies for businesses' "cheap" labor.
