American Dream? Uncontrolled immigration, whether illegal or legal, only serves to flood the labor pool, especially at the lower paying jobs. This increase in labor force drives the wage prices down, forcing the legal workers into illegal situations (under the table)or try and change professions. But not everyone is cut out to be a lawyer. Some people actually like doing an honest days work for an honest wage.
100 years ago in the US, a man could support his family as a brick layer. He could provide a shelter and food. His wife didn't have to work, but may have to make the ends meet.
I suppose 100 years ago a man could make a fine living in a buggy whip shop too. That doesn't mean we should stop society to keep him employed in that line of work.
