Whether or not the border needs to be defended by vigilanties with machine guns is a discussion I'm not going to weigh in on. However, the fact that some, and a growing number, of people feel it is necessary, should shame our Congress Critters into actually fulfulling their duties and upholding our laws.

should shame our Congress Critters into actually fulfulling their duties and upholding our laws.I hate to say it, but it's really not up to congress, at least not according to the Constitution. Congress makes the laws. It's up to the executive branch to uphold them. President Bush is the chief law enforcement officer of the United States. I hate to say it, but it's up to the Bush administration.

I look at it this way, I've been using this cliche a lot lately but, "nature abhors a vacuum," and since it seems the police, military and border patrol seems to be hamstrung and the government is falling down on the job protecting our borders, well somebody, somewhere, shomehow will step in, be it the Minutemen or some guys with machine guns. I don't lump them together at all but I'm saying is that somebody is going to step up to the plate here, be it government sanctioned or vigilante. I can't blame people at all for being this way. I know my father who was stationed in Korea at Camp Casey in the mid 1950's would have a similar DMZ between Mexico and the US with fences, guard posts and minefields.
