JUST A MINUTE Minutemen Project dangerous but puts focus on immigration policy
Houston Chronicle ^ | April 7, 2005, 8:26PM | Editorial

Posted on 04/09/2005 7:03:51 AM PDT by harrowup

A Houstonian armed to the teeth stands atop his pickup truck in the Arizona desert. He wishes to deter illegal immigrants from Mexico, but he and his confederates will fail. Border Patrol officials said some civilian observers set off motion detectors, complicating rather than aiding the agency's mission.

I'll bet that if you had lived in the British Colonies in 1773 you'd have been saying the exact same kind of things about the Boston "Tea Party" that you and others are saying here. "But they broke the law! Trespassers! Vandals!"

All too true Spiff. It's quite clear whose side the OBL would have been on 1773. They reflexively follow whatever the then current overarching power is, no matter how it governs. Looking to these folks for guidance and support in times of crisis is like tossing a gun to a mass murderer and asking him to watch your back. They are gutless, compromised, ethically challenged followers one and all.

I like Tancredo too, because he won't bow and scrape to Vicente Fox like President Bush does.

Rather funny you, of all people, going after Harrowup for his political affiliation, when you and your group of vigilantes are the most disloyal to our President and Commander in Chief.

What's this Loyalty business? You act as if George Bush is some kind of King. Strange I thought he was a public servant that serves at the discretion of the American People.

The only loyalty that matters is the loyalty of a president to his country and countrymen and this one has a few serious problems in that regard.

If the others aren't reinstated, then it's only fair that this guy (harrowup) should be tossed out on his ACLU Democrat rump.

Free Republic holds itself out as a conservative site. Why, in heavens name, would an admitted disrupter be allowed to remain?

Makes no sense. None.

harrowup represents the kind of republican that has more in common with the democratic party than conservatism. Much more. It's the Big Tent Thing. Even "ahem" avowed Socialists are allowed in. Strange days indeed.

I guess you have no problem with subsidizing companies who hire ILLEGALS with healthcare benefits, housing, food, education, WELFARE, etc. Not to mention the diseases that are being brought in to this country! (which also costs taxpayers more money and put our families in danger!)

When you figure in the higher taxes being paid to subsidize ILLEGALS, the low wages providing cheap cost of goods aren't so cheap after all. Taxpayers are picking up the tab for their "benefits". I'm sure companies like Tyson Foods and Wal-Mart thank us everyday.

Thank God for the "Vigilantes". Too damned bad OUR GOVERNMENT can't provide the ONE THING they should be responsible for which is OUR SECURITY!

Perhaps; not everything the ACLU has championed is to my liking. Various state groups began to interject themselves into policy and forgot the practices so demeaning in the early days. It is sad to think that the ACLU has managed to outdo the Sierra Club and Greenpeace in formenting conflict rather than serving the civil rights of all of us. I can tell you that dissent within the ACLU is both frequent and rougher than a rugby match.

Hows the whole Stalinism vs. Lenninism debate going?

You seem to be somewhat confused about attacks on our President and differences of opinion about particular policies of the President. There is a difference. Most if not all of those you are accusing of attacks on the President, voted for him in the last election.

Those statements are an oxymoron in themselves, therefore I conclude with 99.9% accuracy, that your confusion would be instantly solved were you to realize that it is policy, not personal where the differnce lies. No person with half a brain will believe that the United States of America can contiune to be such with a sieve for a border, allowing the law to be flaunted openly or ignored for whatever purpose.

I don't believe that anyone here is begging for borders to be closed, but only to be controlled by law to the advantage of those who have already sworn an oath of allegiance to this country. Let all others desiring the same advantage go through the legal steps to obtain it.

I would trade a disloyal presidential back stabbing traitor like Spiff for one or two principled Harrowups any day.

but he and his confederates will fail.

How are the minutemen considered confederates? Just because they are calling the U.S. government accountable for our security. If it brings attention to our border problem and makes politicians realize that we citizens are fed up with ineffective immigration laws it is no different than people going to Washington and protesting on the mall.

You're simply wrong.

No I am not "simply wrong". Who do you THINK pays for the "benefits" of ILLEGALS?! Hospitals are overflowing with ILLEGALS who can't pay for their own healthcare. They are anything but healthy when they cross the border ILLEGALLY. They are bringing MORE diseases in to this country that threaten MY FAMILY and I don't appreciate it one bit! Schools are overflowing with ILLEGALS who can't speak English. Who do you THINK pays to teach them English and educate them?! Who do you THINK pays for their subsidized housing?!

Those "cheap" goods are NOT cheap. They are subsidized by MY TAX DOLLARS to employers who are hiring them ILLEGALLY (and should be PROSECUTED for it)! Let those employers be forced to start paying for all these ILLEGALS "benefits" and see how fast they start hiring LEGAL AMERICAN CITIZENS.

VIVA BUSH.

Why does this on your personal page not surprise me?! No wonder he is grinning from ear to ear. His corrupt government is raking in the dough while ours is paying through the nose to employ, educate and raise his citizens after they cross the border ILLEGALLY (with his help)!
