A Houstonian armed to the teeth stands atop his pickup truck in the Arizona desert. He wishes to deter illegal immigrants from Mexico, but he and his confederates will fail. Border Patrol officials said some civilian observers set off motion detectors, complicating rather than aiding the agency's mission.

Are they being disloyal to their Conservative princliples? Because that is the primary focus on this site: advancing conservatism---not a cult of personality around George W. Bush.

The President may be a good man, but he's weak on the issue of unchecked ilegal immigration---and as a public servant, they have every right to make their displeasure known,

"It is nowhere close to coming to a standstill, but is proving to be successful (I know, you're deeply saddened over this) and will spawn a number of similar Minuteman Projects all along the border."

Lol, harrowup is no doubt deeply saddened AND brewing numerous mugs of chamomile tea to help his illegal-lovin' @ss deal with the MM patriots' great success.

Actually, the Border Patrol has given those figures to Bill Hess, Senior Report at the Sierra Vista Herald.

Spiff and I have been posting them all week.

Only 400 had been apprehended in sector by the end of the third day of April, a rate of about 133 per day.

For the previous month (March), the BP apprehended 24,232, which is 781 per day.

Which makes the claim of this editorial that the MMP is a failure a hugh bucket of whitewash.

Because that is the primary focus on this site: advancing conservatism---

President Bush is more conservative than his father and has championed more hard core conservative issues than President Reagan.

Please believe me when I also say that this President has restored the dignity and majesty of the office despoiled by the Clinton cabal, much like the hope that President Reagan gave to this country after President Carter's malaise.

We all, liberals and conservatives, share a great nation which respects individual liberties. We just get bent out of shape sometimes when we fail a specific litmus test but most of the time the common purpose is valued by all. We have some terrible folks in the Democratic Party, right now an over-abundance. The good news is that we hear less about them every day.

For example, did you know that Jesse Jackson no longer demands that Mayor Daley has to buy beer from Jesse's son? Things are looking up.

I wish you guys would have read the entire editorial before you sounded off:

A Houstonian armed to the teeth stands atop his pickup truck in the Arizona desert. He wishes to deter illegal immigrants from Mexico, but he and his confederates will fail. Border Patrol officials said some civilian observers set off motion detectors, complicating rather than aiding the agency's mission.

The first few days of the Minutemen Project, which involves a couple of hundred volunteers monitoring a 23-mile stretch of the U.S. border with Mexico and protesting uncontrolled immigration, have brought no evidence that immigration has been deterred. The Border Patrol, which last year apprehended 450,000 illegal migrants in the Tucson, Ariz., sector as more made it through, said the number of calls it has received remained static. On the other side of the border, Mexican officials warned migrants to go around the volunteer border watchers and posted extra police and troops, heightening the chance of accidental confrontation.

The organizers of the Minuteman Project say that a branch could be coming to a border area near you, including Texas. However, the anemic turnout for the first deployment suggests that the movement might soon come to a blessed standstill.

Some members say they are simply ranchers along the border who object to trespassers leaving trash injurious to their livestock. Others resent the flouting of U.S. law and the cultural changes that uncontrolled immigration brings. One organizer said the principal aim of the exercise was to raise press coverage and awareness of the problem, and in this the movement succeeded.

It is just as illegal for Americans to knowingly employ illegal immigrants as it is for the illegal immigrants to come here, yet millions of illegal migrants find jobs in this country. Only a handful of employers are fined. The ill-advised Minutemen Project demonstrates the irrationality of a federal immigration policy that can't stop most of the immigrants from crossing the border and doesn't seek to keep them unemployed when they arrive.

Guess what.

Thanks, gal, you get it.

The sensor issue is a red herring.

I have a co-worker who is a sensor operator, and he has posted on several of these threads with that observation.

Rather funny you, of all people, going after Harrowup for his political affiliation, when you and your group of vigilantes are the most disloyal to our President and Commander in Chief. Attacking him at every opportunity, like some liberal democrat operative. You really should be ashamed.

You don't get it. Most Minutemen Project volunteers did vote for President Bush and agree with him on almost every issue except for his horribly mistaken border policy. It is President Bush who should be ashamed for letting this post-9/11 invasion continue unabated. And we're here to shame him. You've got to love grassroots political action at work.

officials said some civilian observers set off motion detectors,

They never say it's the Minuteman people. Why? Because it's the press that is actually setting them off. They would like you to believe that's because of the minuteman so they leave it up to the reader.

Yes...that is precisely what he and a few vocal ones here are saying.

They do not like the status quo.

I find the brave Minutemen Project MUCH more effective than George W. Bush's continued dog and pony show.

Great response and so true. I don't think Bush even has a pony in his show.

God bless your efforts on thsi forum.

You needn't qualify your views to a PC lib on this forum.

That's what he wants.

That's why he is here.

If these illegal migrants weren't mostly well tanned , he wouldn't say squat except to cheer sending them back.

If there were a bunch of illegal peckerwoods streaming across the border, he'd be all for sending them back. There's no victimhood there to swell up and get all sanctimonious about.

No question about it. I agree. I just don't like people pretending to be your friendly neighborhood watch stomping around causing a ruckus.

Other than the attention seeker from California what ruckus ? The ruckus that motivated the Federal government into action ? The ruckus that captured the attention of the nation ? The ruckus that motivated your commrads with the ACLU to stomp around and cause a ruckus ?

No question about it. I agree.

Since you agree, I have to ask again, what is your solution ?

Because if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem...

As I recall, this Casey Netrhercott is the man that was involved in pistol whipping the illegals in south Texas.

How Typical. Most Americans want the government to stop illegal immigration and out of those many millions, Open Border Hacks like you are obsessed with making the few bad apples the defining profile of Americans that just want our government to protect our borders from this invasion.

Given what's on your side: the ACLU, the Communist Party of America, the Democratic Party, the MSM, the SPLC, LULAC, NCLR "La Raza", the Mexican Government and just about every whacked out radical leftist cause, I don’t think it's wise to push the guilt by remote association line too hard guy.

You have enough leftist baggage on your side to start a congressional inquiry under the U.S. Sedition Act.

But I would not expect a FReeper of all people to be so shocked by American citizens exercising their rights to protect themselves as guaranteed by the 2nd Amendment.

Well some Freepers have problems with concepts like borders, sovereignty and conservatism itself. It's the new RINO World of hemispheric open borders Socialism. All that constitutional rights stuff is just so yesterday to them.

So then I take it you have no gravitas...

I still like the figment...
"The Dumbing down of America by G.W. Bush through immigration"
It has legs.. It takes a mountian of lies to cover the truth well..

Now, I expect the violent drug smugglers and human traffickers to be upset about the Minuteman Project's operations and the fact that they are armed. I wouldn't expect a FReeper to join them. I would expect the Mexican Government to demonize the Minuteman Project as a bunch of armed militia types too. But I would not expect a FReeper to join them too. Finally, I would definitely expect the leftist anti-gun media to freak out over a few holstered sidearms. But I would not expect a FReeper of all people to be so shocked by American citizens exercising their rights to protect themselves as guaranteed by the 2nd Amendment.

BTTT

I wouldn't expect an American President to speak out against American patriots either.
