That conservatives want more federal intervention has perplexed me from the beginning.
These people aren't conservatives, as you and I understand the term. Limited government means nothing to them. They are only 'conservative' in the sense that they advocate a traditional morality. Unfortunately, they want to use the power of Big Government to implement it.
