as for what you took personally, i am sorry as well, but it was not intended that way. i don't know you, nor do i know anything about you, have no way to know that you are even catholic. i referenced the post that claimed the Church was not opposed to this and gave evidence that it was not so. You came back to say that it was not an encyclical. And yes, such parsing can be used as justification for one's viewpoint, as to what your viewpoint is, whether you are catholic, like i said, i have no clue and that is not my purpose.
Yesterday was Good Friday, i left this thread to watch the Passion with my family. it is a transcendent experience, even the second time. it provided me needed perspective. i think everyone, on both sides of this debate, needs to step back and try to get a little perspective on themselves, and not just wildly go around making pronouncements on the sanity or the morality of the other side. i am sorry if you felt that i was attacking you in any way. truly, i only intend to correct misinformation about the Church's position. i admit to use of intemperate language and ask your forgiveness for it.
What a wonderful way to wake up.
Your generous note has moved me and I thank you for it from the bottom of my heart.
I sincerely wish you a Happy Easter.
