My mother told me that bad pennies always turn up, and watching her walk into my my office, I could see mom was right on the money. It'd been a long time - not long enough to forget those gams, but a long time nonetheless.
"Hello, Dick," she said, her voice dripping honey.
"Hiya, dollface. Don't make yourself too comfortable," I shot back.
She pouted momentarily. "Is that any way to greet an old friend?"
"I've seen what happens to your 'old friends', toots," I said, my fingers curling around the .38 I kept strapped to the back of my chair for just this kind of reunion... Welcome back, my friend ;)
