Last but not least...
THIS IS YOUR WEB SITE - YOU CAN DO AS YOU DARN WELL PLEASE!!
God Bless you JimRob for this site!
You're d@mn right!
You must be one of those Capitalist types.
; )
Well put.
I have never viewed this as a "Free Speech" site...I have inadvertently crossed the line and said things have been chastised or had my comments deleted due to the inflammatory nature of them. (Note I said inadvertently-I am not proud of this!)
I view myself as a guest here, and I understand what the moderators are trying to do and why they do it. They are not trying to quash free speech, they are simply trying to maintain order and keep things civil and above the board.
There are rules, and the moderators know when someone is simply trying to have a discussion, or when they are simply trolling. I think they do a fine job keeping things in line.
If Jim or the appointed moderators don't like what I say, they usually have valid reasons for that, but...I understand...there is NO FREE SPEECH HERE! Jim pays for this site. As Mr. K said...YOU CAN DO AS YOU DARN WELL PLEASE!!

- I believe you are correct. Whoever establishes a web site can pretty much do whatever they please in granting memberships or purging those posters they consider to be pests or who hold extreme views. However, there should be some kind of warning given to posters before they unwittingly step over the line.
It's quite easy to become embroiled in an argument with another poster on an issue without even knowing that the site administrator is sitting quietly in the background ready to pull the plug on some comments that he personally finds offensive.
Short of allowing foul language, outright racist statements, crazy lies and libelous statements, I personally think all comments on any topic should be allowed.
Yes and no one questions that. But sometimes it doesn't look the best, and while Jim has every right to run it any way he likes, if it doesn't look good, it could hurt FR. Neither Jim nor any of us wants that.
Allow me to glom on to your thoughts, Mr K. , thank you JimRob for providing a free and thoughtful forum for us to express and share our ideas. I only heard of the site this past election season, and now can't imagine life without it.
My thoughts exactly!
Is brown your favorite color? ;)
