The problem is... we're seeing some serious problems. Now, I hate to cast aspersions or anything, but let's be honest: At best, some of the stuff that has been discussed is questionable. At worst, it's out-and-out racism.
Now, I admit that false charges of racism have flown in the past. Notably, from the NAACP when people have raised valid arguments and concerns about things like racial quotas and vote fraud.
That does not change the fact that there are still racists out there. Nor that they use legitimate gripes to further their dispicable and disgusting agenda. Given that we KNOW the Left uses this form of attack and prefers to, why do some folks want to push the envelope, and leave fellow conservatives open to such attacks?
The best way to prevent the tarring of the rightist coalition with the evils of Nazism and other extremism is to take a leading position vis a vis borders, language and culture. Don't leave the hard lines regarding national sovereignty to the extremists. Own the hard line and drive it. One can take such a position without being racist. In fact, the smartest lovers of freedom and human rights understand this. Witness Michelle Malkin among others.
Some great comments. Thanks.
But to this day "states rights" is considered racist by some. I am not making this up. (Though of course the pot crowd, "gay marriage," et al. refer to it. If I as a conservative said "states rights" likely some to this day would scream, Racist! which indeed happened on this very forum some months ago.)
That aside there are reasons we dwell on Mexicans coming here ILLEGALLY. Why? They are the largest numbers and their corrupt government is herding them here, "Mexican diaspora."
The Mexican government meddles in our internal affairs at all levels, private and public.
So does the Irish government meddle -- at least to the extent of discussing with Washington the treatment of its citizens who are here ILLEGALLY.
ILLEGAL aliens from Ireland have left the U.S. owing to NY state's crackdown on drivers licenses.
Good!
We've condemned all ILLEGAL aliens - I say they were invited here by our business' and government's wink, wink nudge, nudge attitude about enforcing our laws.
Regardless, Mexico is the worst offender. It ain't racism -- IMO it's an insult to Americans of Hispanic origin to suggest that we must kowtow to Mexico lest we don't get the Hispanic vote.
