None of the usual Malkinbots will be able to meet that challenge. They are lying, but sadly, I fear that their lies are carrying the issue.
Hysteria, fear, and lying have trumped reasonable debate on the issue. Sensible proposals are DOA, and it makes me ashamed to be a conservative.
They often cast the most vicious aspersions on the positions, motivation, whether or not they are law-abiding, and even the patriotism of those who have dared to disagree with their solution. It's a sad situation.
The conservatives who torpedo them are acting out of a motive other than conservatism.
I think Costa Rica has a good model for immigration. If you're not a Costa Rican citizen, you may not work there unless there is no qualified Costa Rican who will fill the job.
However, nothing prevents you from opening your own business and working for yourself.
No reason to be ashamed, IMO. This vocal, strident, and very small minority is being shown for the narrow minded idealougues they are.
Their patron saint, Pat Buchanan, this morning, basically said that 9/11 was America's fault and that Israel was the evil in the world.
Let them talk, I say. They only dig themselves a bigger hole.
Hysteria, fear, and lying have trumped reasonable debate on the issue.
Not to mention blanket statements such as the one you made above. Unless you're seriously suggesting that those advance reasonable debate.
The right fringe isolationists like Malkin and Buchanan are being propped up by the MSM. The MSM knows how they look to average voters. Don't sweat it. If their forces had any power Dubya would not be President, and the House and Senate would be filled with Tancredos.
A rule for successful politicians is "don't take on an issue you can't win." The fact that Dubya is taking this one on indicates he thinks he can pass a guest worker program. He's a pretty persuasive guy and the battle is only just starting.
My spell checker suggests "Malignants" as the first correction for "Malkinbots"
