I see, and thanks for the correction. As you said, defending your home or business is not vigilantism, but self-defense. Rushing out a thousand miles to the border with a rifle is not self-defense but ideologue-addled lunacy.
By the way (seeing as how you're such a fan of this form of argument), your condemnation of them puts you in quite good company with a lot of loony leftists.
The only justification for not "rushing out" is that this particular problem is self-limiting. The bankruptcy of Kalifornia will be a turning point. Arizona, I believe, has just passed a measure which will deny public benefits to illegals. Unfortunately, the Arizona liberals are blocking its enforcement.
The "attackers" in this case are not only the illegals, but the liberals who support taking the wealth created by the sweat of my brow and denying it to my children in favor of these illegals. If a thousand miles is too far, how close must the enemy be if they threaten the welfare of your children?
There you go again...
You are completely mischaracterizing what the Minuteman Project plans to do. They are not bringing their rifles, they're not hunting Mexicans, etc. You join your shrill leftist Reconquista brethren when you hurl false accusations like that.
The truth is that the project is much like a border FReep. Go to where the point can be made best and bring all the people you can. Did you bash Jeff Head and other FReepers when they went to Klamath Falls Basin and made their point there? I suppose those FReepers who travelled a great distance to Washington, DC to tell Gore to "Get out of Cheney's house!" were displaying "idealogue-addled lunacy". And those noisy few who actually did rush out with their rifles to stop the government from seizing the weapons in the town square (see Lexington circa. 1775) were also displaying "idealogue-addled lunacy".
You're really afraid of guns, aren't you? You should ask a gun owning friend to take you to the range one of these days to quell this.
