One of the problems you are overlooking is that the entire world would like to come to the US. Everyone wants to be a US citizen and I don't blame them. Who gets to decide who can come and who doesn't? Shouldn't it be done legally instead of illegally.

Where do we draw the line? How many legal immigrants should we let in and why? We let in something like 2 million every year right now. Something like 98% of the entire world is worse off than Mexico. Why should Mexico come to the front of the line? That 2 million we let in is just a small percentage of the annual birthrate of all of the nations worse off than Mexico. There's no way we can help any of these impoverished nations by taking in everyone who wants to emigrate. And what kind of people do we want here? Poor, undeducated and unskilled? No. Skilled and educated? Sure, we want only the best and brightest to come in. They're better but it does their home country no favors if we take away their best and brightest. There's a major problem in Mexico that all of their young men are abandoning their towns to come north. This has left entire towns devoid of all but old men. And these towns are primarily farming towns and now the elderly have to try to work the fields. The mayor of town came back from Mexico a few months ago and reported just that.

The reason so many non-westerners wish open borders on the USA and the destruction of our culture is because they can not compete in a free market environment of intellect and work ethic. They wish the concept of "tomorrow" on us so that everything we have will be like Mexico, that is not complete, not good, not working, and not clean, but corrupt as it can be.

What made the USA great is great people of great work ethic, great educational ethic, great family values and largely a Protestant view of Christianity where the method or personal responsibility and organization are paramount. It just doesn't happen anywhere else.

Exactly right that's why illegal immigration is the worst possible method. It is totally discriminatory to the rest of the world and as you point out it is totally uncontrolled by us. After all it is our country we should have "some" say.
