The problem is not immigration but assimilation of the immigrants. Our laws have become so bizarre that instead of making the immigrates buy into the American Dream and become members of our society we make our society conform to theirs, and do not apply the letter of the law to the immigrants.

We have a Balkanization of our country via immigration.

My wife is Mexican from Mexico and holds two degrees from American Universities and has also taught in University. Her English is better than mine. She lives the American dream and is also proud of her heritage. However, she is American first. This is her country now.

That's because of what is driving this massive migration of people. It's not typical immigration where people are happy to leave the old country, learn a new language and eagerly jump into the American melting pot. The Mexican government not only is driving them out but setting up it's offices everywhere throughout the USA to continue governing over them, issuing them their matricula cards for use in the USA. Congratulation to you and your wife. Another example is a friend at work who got an illegal girl pregnant. He the married her - she went back to Peru and went through the system to get back here legally. I welcomed her with love and respect.

They wear the same clothes everyone else does, including hipsters.
They eat at McDonalds and Pizza Hut
They bury their children in the same veterans' cemeteries with the same crosses on the headstones.
They work 8 to 5 jobs without siestas
They cheer the Houston Astros and Texans
They belong to the same Christian denominations
They shop at the same malls
Drive the same Japanese cars
Watch the same flat screen TVs
Learn the English required to function satisfactorily on the job, in school, or at Target.

What is it about their assimilation that disturbs you?

Do you have a problem with them preying in Spanish in their homes, eating tacos, listening to Tejauno music, letting their elderly live in their homes instead of putting them in retirement communities, not allowing their daughters to stay out all nite at age 14, not aborting their babies, playing soccer instead of hockey, ...
