The shot heard around the Internet has been fired on FreeRepublic.com The owner Jim Robinson and his moderators have launched a sniper style purge against members that disagree with the President’s ‘guest worker’ amnesty or support more control of illegal immigration. Free Republic is an amazing tool for those looking for a good debate and news from around the country.
The problem for the administration of the site is that their creation is allowing the participants to learn that the Bush immigration record and plans are shockingly out of line with the views of most conservatives. The management’s answer to this conflict between the majority of conservatives and the influence of the White House on their Web site has become electronic executions and censorship.
Members and readers of Free Republic would be surprised to know that many members of their community have fallen silent on the discussions about illegal immigration lately because free speech is an illusion on FR.com. They are silent because they have been banned from the Web site without warning, cause, or explanation in most cases. For weeks the moderators have been suspending and banning new members that chimed in quickly on the immigration debates.
Now this trend has broadened as the first groups of long-term users were suspended or banned this past week. Although Robinson and his staff removed many members of the Free Republic community in the first few days of the purge, those that religiously support President Bush’s immigration plan, open borders and approve of public benefits for illegal aliens remain on the forum. Those that were banned were the members that wanted more done to control illegal immigration and a strict observance to the President’s Oath of Office.

That's not true. Illegals have an understanding with lib-democrats as examplified by all the CA Dems, who when 187 was passed, shopped a judge to rescind Prop 187. Then there was Prop 209. Dems, Lockyer fer sure, was quoted in open news saying he wasn't going to obey prop 209 -- EVEN THO 209 WAS IN THE STATE CONSTITUTION. Just dropping welfare and such is NOT going to do exactly what you propose. There's gotta be a wall, first. Things have gone on too long for just "stopping welfare" and that will cure the problem....
I would disagree.
People are attempting to dictate to him who should be allowed to post and what should be tolerated. It is his board. He could toss someone off because they have the same name as someone that kicked him in the 2nd grade, though he'd never do that if I understand his character correctly.
It is his board to conduct as he sees fit. No one has the right to organize a very small protest group to overrule his decisions. If you dislike the way the board is run, you can privately address concerns to him. If he chooses not to respond or to even disagree, you either accept it or leave without fuss. No one is entitled to post here. No one is prevented from creating their own board to run according to their own rules.
This is total nonsense. Although some crazies have called me a racist (i suppose along with the 47% of AZ Latinos who supported Prop 200!) NO ONE from FreeRepublic took any action against my strong stand against the amnesty proposal.

Fankly, I'm tired of Mexicans claiming southwestern and western U.S.
They only owned it for 30 years. And they (Mexicans) were not in charge. It was the Spanish left overs that ruled.
When Fremont came to S.F., there were few to notice. When he visited Montery, Ca. there were approx 1200. When he chased these few to L.A. there still no more and 2,400.
They have no claim, except usurpation. That is what they know.
And these self righteous Mexican will deny rights of the Miwoks and Ohlone, the Hoopa, the Round Mountain and others (over 40/50 different tribes). The mexicans were not here. Others were. But they were mostly stone age peoples. Not much different from the cannibal, liver eaters in the south.
