Actually, every time we find a "missing link" creationists say that creates two more gaps. ;-)
I used to say that a lot, too, but it's wrong. You can model this just cutting up a rope.
To start with, you have one big gap.
A-------------------------Z
You put three fossils in the original gap.
A-----F-------N----S------Z
You have four gaps now, not six. It isn't fossils * 2 at all, just fossils + 1.
