I don’t think most Freepers have a problem with immigration. In fact we may need it. But what is needed for aging Western economies our productive immigrants who enter the United States LEGALLY. By rewarding those who disobey the law we in fact slap those in the face who worked to get into the United States by legal means.

The US could even make it easier for those applying legally to enter. However screen them for those who will be productive citizens. And screen out potential terror threats. Ie. No immigrants from Saudi Arabia need apply. Call it discriminatory immigration policies if you like – but the government has a duty to protect its current citizens.

As far as those in the US under false pretenses, punish them. If they are now productive members of society force them to seek legal immigration status and levy a fine. If they have any kind of criminal record since being in the US, toss them.

What I don't understand, what apparently is happening..is that someone who isn't here legally who gets charged and goes to court is NOT referred to the ICE for further action.

I can go to the local General District Court and there are plenty of "driving without license" charges. Not "driving on suspended" or anything that indicates that they once had a licnese, but a charge that indicates they never had one.

Virgina, in case you didn't know, has a law making it so that one must prove legal presence to get a license.

So it would stand to reason that many of those going to court for driving without a license may not be here legally..
