Immigration plan discouraged by GOP lawmakers

President Bush cannot push his guest-worker program for illegal immigrants and new foreign workers and still win reforms to Social Security or the tax code, congressional opponents said yesterday.

"There are a lot of ambitious plans, a lot of necessary reforms that need to take place, but this rush toward amnesty-light should not be one of the priorities," said Rep. J.D. Hayworth, Arizona Republican, who called himself a friend and political ally of the president, but said Mr. Bush's immigration proposal would hurt his broader legislative agenda.

of 1500 dollars for each little spawn his and his mate pop out.

$1500??? The maternity care, pre and postnatal care alone are quite a bit more than $1500. Then by age 3 it's free babysitting at HeadStart --- how much a year is that with the free breakfasts and lunches? Then it's $10,000 or more a year in schooling for the next 13 years or so ---- per child!. Plus the food stamps, WIC, Medicaid and housing subsidies. Just so someone can come here and work for $5 under the table.

How did it ever happen that a "temporary legal resident" could buy property. If he over stays his visa, do we deport and do WHAT with his property? Or does he just get to renew the visa forever?

Here's your cigar!

I was renting a home that was quickly sold to some illegal aliens on a "lease-to-own" plan. Their real-estate agent was from Columbia and spoke marginal engrish, yet none of the illegals moving in could or cared to speak a word of english - not even "hello" or "good evening."

Those who buy property have a special name: "Colonists" and just remember your tax dollars are underwriting the loans made to them so that they can stay here and drive up the costs of housing for low-income natives.

Yeah we'll make out like bandits. (/sarcasm)

Which puts the lie to 'W's claim that education is what this country needs for the 21st century. If his answer to outsourcing and more jobs for Americans is allegedly "education", then how-come we need to import 33 million+ illiterate and uneducated workers? I thought our government education system was cranking out enough of those already.

But there is one big flaw in that, the Employers don't want to hire LEGALS because it costs them more in taxes they have to pay to the feds like SSI and workmans comp.

But that will all go away under 'W's suicidal "Temporary Worker" program. Once they are made "legal", then they have access to our court systems to sue the $#i+ out of American emnployers for everything from carpel-tunnel syndrome to bogus claims of sexual harrassment.

If Mexicans are such hardworkers, how-come Mexico is a poverty stricken toilet, and most Mexican neighborhoods in the US are reflections of the dismal life and environment left behind?

The reason why they appear to be "hard workers" is because they don't have all of the benefits of the social safety net. Our sloths, when told to mop a restroom, cuss out the manager, stomp off the job, and go to momma's home and live off her welfare and foodstamps. If our homegrown derelicts learned about the motivational power of hunger, they would grow a work ethic overnight that would obviate the need to import illiterate turd world criminals.

Maybe we should just ask for a proper discription of the border from the expert, if it is not "open", because we've heard him twist this in TOO many threads. I'm sure it would be an interesting term, something like undocumented worker instead of what it really is.

>I have no problem with flying millions of low-wage sub-literate "workers" to Southeast Asia, to work at rebuilding that area.

Of course, there really won't be any reason to bring them back, 'cuz once they've built the place up again, they'll want to stay, right?<

Now that's the best win-win idea I've heard all day. How many bods can one of those new transport planes carry?

It probably does take a while to get a green card because you've got so darn many applicants --- what's wrong with a country that is among the world's wealthiest nations that so many millions --- in fact most --- of it's citizens are desperate to get the hell out?

Mexico competes with Great Britain and Germany in numbers of billionaires. It's got the second highest oil reserves in the Western Hemisphere --- yet it's citizens are dying by the hundreds trying to escape it --- you don't see a problem in that? Massive immigration is actually making the situation worse --- which is why every year immigration is even more desperate.

The next time you purchase a pair of shoes at Kmart just see how far you will get trying to tell the clerk that she can't charge you sales tax because you are in the country illegally.

That's all well and good, and is an argument for sales-taxes. But what about clown-houses? You get some single family dwelling holding several families and you in effect have a dozen children at $10K each per head (in government schools) only paying taxes on one dilapidated property. Annual property tax: $2000. Cost to educate their kids each year: $120,000. How many shoes at Kmart do they need to buy to make up the difference?

Item 2. The pile of crap cars and trucks that they drive. Here is how it works. Look in the newspaper for a really cheap car that was registered recently. Drive the thing months past the inspection and registration tickets are up. Get over one year of use out of the smoke-belching rolling Exxon Valdez before they abandon it in the left hand lane of the road during rush-hour. Since they never bothered to register the car with the tax assessor, the last known owner was the shmuck that sold the car to them and didn't have the sense to keep the tags. So not counting the profound environmental damage they do that owners of late model SUVs are charged with, the only taxes they pay are when they stop at the pump, since auto parts can usually be found without sales taxes when purchased from Five Finger Discount or Midnight Auto Supply. Oh yeah, they don't have insurance either, so not only do we have to do something with their abandoned cars, occasionally we have to foot the bill for their medical treatments and the harm they have caused to others when they drive these jalopies into something of value.

And what about all of those reports of billions of bucks being sent home to central america? That is billions of bucks not being invested or spent in the US.

Oh, you know, we could pretty much make them SRO in C-5's, prob'ly get 'bout 5-6 hundred a flight...wouldn't take long to get rid...er...transport all those "willing workers" to where they could be most useful....

(shuffle feet, whistling conspiratorially...)

But I guess it's more productive for you to blame Bush

Oh really! Productive in what way? You, your friends and the Bush administration are unbelievable. We are talking about losing our country here. Are you people totally blind?

How dare you condone the illegal presence here of 20 to 30 million aliens. How dare you, as I assume you are an American, how dare you not fight against this take over of your own country. You people are hopeless. You are a pathetic mess, caring nothing for the misery your fellow Americans are going through now. You are so totally selfish you care nothing for the future of our children and grandchildren who will have to exist in an occupied country.

How sickening that men and women have given their lives in war that you people could live free. You don't deserve a week of freedom here. Anyone who can so casually give their country to the Mexicans makes me want to puke.

And the best way to protect Americans, through a strong economy, has been achieved with the assistance of immigrant slave labor.

It seems that you are making an argument against a minimum wage. Why if slave wages make for a strong economy, then we all should be at slave wages.

Nice twist but you forgot ONE minor Detail.

Actually lots of minor details, but those who hate our language, borders and culture are not bothered by details or for that matter, the truth. Its all about getting neighbors to subsidize bayourod's lawn care service.

It'd probably be a good idea to begin responding to their baiting with nothing more than 'howya doin' when they descend on these threads.

Cigar for you sir!

You nailed it. These people will sell you, your children and everything that is important to you to the god of money. They hate our country's language, borders and culture and want to replace it with a self-destructing polyglot.

Do you want to see what multi-culturalism does? Look at places like Bosnia, and Iraq, where the cultures are constantly at war and will never stop fighting for control. Isn't it interesting that what these idiots here in the US are demanding is precisely the mechanism that China is using to take over Tibet?

They aren't just illegal aliens. They are Colonists.

Interesting how you CONSTANTLY call people race baiter AND La Raza devotee.
Kinda hypocritical, eh?

No, actually accurate. If the targets of these accusations would refrain from playing the race card and parroting La Raza propaganda, then usadave would not have to keep pointing this out.

Your complaints sound like a liar complaining that his opponent keeps calling him a liar. So why are you playing the Victim Card?

What else is in your deck?

>"I hate to disappoint you, but they won't be building your fence."<

You are most likely right.

We'll fight a war on the other side of the world, to stop the Islamic/terrorist vermin from attacking us again...yet when it comes to our own back yard, our federal government won't protect our own border, and every lowlife criminal in the world is able to walk right in. In a post 9-11 world it makes no sense to me.

Take care.

Sorry, I used to feel the same way... but it gets rather old after all this time.

I love hearing other points of view, it makes life here far more interesting.
Trouble is, he and the other one note charlie very rarely say anything new, and the same ol' same ol' and taking over most of the illegal threads has bored me to tears. That's my beef. It has reached the point where I now mostly just read the article, and stop reading the comments as soon as I see them come up.
I don't know anything about a possible financial interest, that's not my problem.
