Personally, I think half of these nutjobs are reporters who signed up some time ago so their sign-up date wasn't terribly suspicious.

I really hope this is the case!

Look, I don't like the fact that 40% of my hard earned money is given over to various governmental agencies with little or no result. But I couldn't begrudge a dime going to these poor souls and still call myself a Christian. There is a time and a place for arguing about unfair taxation and the onerous burden on the actual working class, but this aint' it folks!

Are you talking about Amendment 19?

I just saw the posts after mine, so I have no idea what started things off, nor does it matter. I know that mostly you and FreeReign are on the sane side, the RIGHT one, so I was dismayed at your fightong here. I did appreciate your comments on my post, as I thought I had done a pretty good job at explaining things... thanks! Good tro know I was right!

For all you know, somebody reading this very thread has on a Charles Manson teeshirt.

Oh man! That's scary! Can you see through that screen, or was it a lucky guess?

"Are you talking about Amendment 19?"

No, I'm talking about the Equal Rights Amendment.

As I understand the process, Amendments aren't numbered until they are ratified.

My reply #1180 has the entire text of the amendment and also points out that this amendment has been introduced in the Congress every year from 1923 to 1972 when it finally passed and was sent to the States for ratification with a 7 year time limit which was later extended by 3 years. It never got ratified and folks are still trying to get it through.

My point was that this amendment was written to specify that women get the same rights as men. In my view women have the same rights as men and gender need not be specified.

Gotcha, thanks for the follow up.

Who is still trying to get it through?

We've got to be careful here, because the left is going to use this as a Constitutional justification to regulate "equal pay for equal work". They will use it to further erode property rights and the decision making that goes on within private compaines as far as who gets hired and what they earn.

You are correct, oh learned one. If the constitution doesn't specifically give the Feds the power to do X, then they are not authorized to do it.

What the constitution fails to mention as being a fed function is automatically left to the states. The founders wanted LIMITED central government. They had been there and done that. They knew that the quickest way to oppression was an overly intrusive central government.

What a phenomenal and precious document our constitution is. Too bad our "extra-constitutional" friends do not read it or believe themselves intellectually superior to the likes of Jefferson and Franklin. Not bloody likely.

A microscpic few would not want to help those in need. You are simply making a point of law. Our minds have become inoculated to the chipping away of the rule of law.

Enjoy your posts.

We are so silly to still be paying taxes in this country just to see it all going overseas for someone else to profit from.

All the relief aid amounts to is an investment in those nations, just like we did in Japan and Europe after WWII. Its not relief for the good of the victims, its an investment for future financial gain.

Come to think of it, thats why North America was colonized...some things never change I guess.

Each person has to earn it via their own efforts.

I believe you have to be free, of fear of practicing this prticular trait in your personality without being "killed" would certainly make it one whole lot easier.

Now they are making outlandish statements so when they write their newspaper articles they can gives quotes (which they made anonymously) about how conservatives are greedy and stingy.

I agree. This is not paranoia. This falls under the category of 'Know Thy Enemy'.

When people live outside of the truth, they have no shame nor fear of doing anything to upset their foe.

I think I have spotted a few others who fall into this category...trying to trap Christians into statements they can twist into MSM sound bites that make us 'sound bad or mean'.

I have not been keeping up with that story -- about the Governor's aid. Thanks for reminding us. There are a lot of "freepers" who are just here to cause dissent and make FR look bad.

Exactly, Peach. The beauty of the internet is that we all have equal access to publish...the scary part is, it's easy for the enemy to hide and lay in wait amongst us.

This fact is especially dangerous for conservatives, as the only tool that socialists/liberals have to defeat us is not with their ideas, since they are bankrupt, but by finding any spec of 'impurity ' so they can discredit an individual conservative.

The Politics of Personal DestructionTM lives on as the only effective tool of the left.

Be careful everyone...think twice before hitting Post.
