The only substitution of nonsense for a real answer occurred when Non-Sequitur indulged in his usual tu quoquery. I have simply pointed that fact out to the rest of the thread.
The fact is, both men believed in constitutional government and the rule of law, but both men were pushed to take actions due to the war that they would have preferred not to take.
Those actions in hindsight might have been wrong, but they are understandable considering the historical context.
