Hi, Timpad.

I'd say it depends on the kid?

When my daughter was that age (7-10) i would have taken her, but she likes odd, slightly creepy things.

If you have doubts, consider waiting til it comes out on DVD and renting it and doing a "private screening".

When we came out of the movie there were MANY children of the ages you describe, and they were all chattering happily. Nobody seemed scared.

Of course, the theatre had an actor dressed up as Willy Wonka (pretty effectively too) and HE was giving out free candy....

Thanks for the review!

Roald Dahl is/was a personal favorite author. I always liked his style.

It's good to hear they were able to capture much of his vision.

Thanks, I'll bet the free candy went a long way toward enjoyment of the movie. Those I'm considering taking to see it like creepy as well, so I think we're there.
