We had a shepherd/coyote mix that held just such a special place in our hearts. Gone 11 years now.
It's just amazing the effect these animals have in our lives.
Us, silly?
Yes, it is.
I wrote this back in the summer about Laura Earl's Mainecoon Cat KC who had been with her for 17 or 18 years and part of my life for 6 years. He had to be helped along the way and I stayed with him as the vet sent him home. It applies to any cherished pet. Hope you like it.

I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges.
It is a wonderful new morning in the UT thread 2.0
Birds singing, children laughing, the sun gloriously bathing the world in a warm golden glow
Remarkable really, how picturesque it is
suddenly, on the horizon a small shape appears
running toward the gathered crowd of people occupying the UT 2.0.
Tiamat remarks, almost to herself,..Why it is that small feral child again
Sionnsar looks up from his work table, glances over his shoulder and walks closer. Placing the binoculars he bought on recent trip to Key West confirms Tiamats assertion.
Crowds began to gather and look at the child
running ever closer
like a gazelle
leaping over anything that is in his way
flora and fauna alike
. His speed is such that it appears he is almost floating over the landscape.
I know that kid
Dead Corpse pushes his way through the throng to the front
. I think I have a jpeg of him somewhere crossing his arms and continues to stare outward at the child.
A call from the library window, it is Monkey Face she is gazing into a telescope
Hes carrying an envelope
Conspiracy Guy, skeptical, turns his back and goes back to what he was doing, mumbling something about the kid being some weird stranger.
NicknamedBob, hardhat on and clipboard in hand just finishing his latest tally of all things UT
strolls over to join the throng..Is he getting closer? Seems like hes been running for hours
The Darks both Sheare and Chylde both laugh darkly
.Oh he is getting closer
be careful what you wish for NicknamedBob
A CA Guy ambles over, pulls out his pistol and eyes it lovingly
Hes not a divorce attorney, is he?
A raucous laugh flows from the back of the crowd
Of course not
hes too young... As she reaches A CA Guy, Tuliptree76 hands him a beer
Here try this A CA Guy takes a sip and nods his head in approval as he reholsters his weapon.
Suddenly
the child is upon them
barely panting
showing no ill effects of his long run
he takes the envelope and hands it to Tuliptree76
He said to bring it here
to you all
Her blonde hair sparkling in the light she knowingly takes the envelope and begins to open it
suddenly the child begins to laugh maniacally and runs back the way he came.
Tuliptree76 shrugs
Whatever and continues to open the envelope
she finds a small glass ampule marked
Open
she gazes around at the others ... perhaps seeking advice what to do, perhaps as a warning not to interfere. Regardless the ampule is cracked with a quick motion and its contents spill on the rich, dark earth.
As if by magic a plant begins to sprout and grow at an accelerated rate
astonishingly fast
everyone moves back when a large pod suddenly grow off the main stalk. The pod begins to wiggle and shake, getting more violent with each second that passes when a split appears in its tough husk
from inside fingers reach out and grab the edges of the husk and widen the breach
a foot emerges and then the rest of the body, when everyone sees the face of the person a loud cry escapes from the crowd
ITS STAG!!!!
Hi Everyone
so this is the new place?!?! Took me awhile to find it
I love it. I truly love it. I'll share it with my wife when she gets home.
Hi-ya Stag...
You dang pod people get lost so easily!
Want a pod to place next to your bed??? They're free!!!
That is a great picture
Glad you like it.
Ha cha cha cha....
Hey, cool!
Hey, guys! Stag got himself a new Ipod.
By the way, here's a towel.
Friends of mine found it on the web somewhere....
**Stag blushes**
Knew I forgot something...thanks
Sure. I don't sleep so no big deal.
They are great in salads, with a bit of balsamic...taste a bit like cucumber
I'm not a salad person. I use the pods as cattle feed.
