I am an ex-lib so i have been where you are now. I also second the comments from other posters to ignore the rude and "gotcha" comments. There are plenty of thoughtful, polite, Christian posters here who represent conservative & libertarian positions.

Welcome to Free Republic. I hope you will read all the replies and then take the time to do some more in-depth commenting.
Probably a bit daunting to have 400 or so replies to your thread/post almost immediately but so far you have done very little in the way of meaningful sharing of views for comparison.
I will watch this thread off and on to see what comes of it and you. I think if you really do have an open mind you will see some (probably not all) of your views changed.
For your children's sake, I hope so.
