And besides, Dr. James Dobson is not a preacher.

He's a psychologist and pro-family activist.

He has as much right to petition his government and to make his views known to Americans as you do.

And millions of Americans pay attention, too.

Dobson is a very wise and honorable man...one of the finest in our country today.

Not only that, even McCain fears him, so he's got some muscle, for sure. In '00 when McCain was lambasting Falwell and Robertson, he particularly singled out Mr. Dobson as a man he respected, and took pains to establish the fact that he did not include Mr. Dobson in his normal jihad against the Evangelicals. So, Mr. Dobson does carry some significant clout.

I can't believe that Spectre is up for this position. Spectre, who either by inattention or neglect helped set the stage for Ira Einhorn to escape to France, as he was under suspicion of murdering his girlfriend. He was the State's Attorney, IIRC, at the time. Spectre was named on America's Most Wanted in connection with the Einhorn case, when it was profiled. And this is the man about to chair the Judiciary Committee?

It is unbelievable that this should be our fate, now that we've finally gained a working majority in the Senate. He cannot be trusted, and that's not a guess.
