Laughably false. Census figures show that the number of slaves was increasing each decade and there was NO abolition movement in the South. But whether it was failing or not evades the FACT that the Slavers were determined to do anything to protect slavery including destroy their own country. As for collaboration it is an absurd comment with no truth in it. Since the slaveowning elites were the leaders who produced the war there was no chance that they would have been displaced particularly if they had won. It is a ridiculous contention.

Whatever percentage owned slaves THAT was the group which controlled the South. THAT was the group which was allowed to vote, which provided the governing class, which controlled almost all the capital and which would not give it up. It is very doubtful given your history with figures that any validity can be put in that one.

It is hard to believe that an educated person could say the ridiculous things that you say. Fanaticism can destroy the finest of minds.

Slavers ALL say the war was fought for slavery tell THEM they are wrong. NONE make the high-minded claims you do but honestly admit their motivation was slavery first last and always. The idea that the puny fedgov of 1860 was some sort of tyrant is just pathetic rationalization without a trace of truth in it. The only "freedom" the Slavers were concerned about was the freedom to own another human being and the "freedom" to protect their tyranny of the Whip and the Lash.

what UTTER NONSENSE!

today i don't have time to refute each & every one of your points, BUT do some research on what i have written about "collaboration with the enemy" on other threads.

i have posted the documentation to back up my claims (including MANY letters from high-ranking US officers offering PERMANENT protection for slavers/slavery, who DID collaborate with the invader.), much of which is in publicly available venues.

btw, IF the WBTS had been to preserve slavery, why would have 100,000+ FREE black men fought for the south??? (one hopes you aren't one of those here, who say that, "they were too stupid to know what the war was about.")

could it be that we southrons were/are CORRECT & that the damnyankees here are still LIARS, fools & HATERS?

btw, as to my PEASANT REVOLT theory, over 90% of dixie's hero-martyrs in tattered gray had GROSS ASSETS of less than $ 25.00;the average southron servicemember had NET personal assets of less than $ 10.00 in 1861! (just one of the several reasons that we didn't WIN was a lack of $$$$ and EVERYTHING else, except VALOR.)

The only "freedom" the Slavers were concerned about was the freedom to own another human being and the "freedom" to protect their tyranny of the Whip and the Lash.

If that was their desire, they already had that while remaining a member of the union. Abraham Lincoln supported the Corwin Amendment which guaranteed the permanence of slavery.
