My son manages a couple of local video rental stores. We were talking about the aforementioned DVD tonite and I asked about availability on the rental side. (I have a copy, I was just curious.) He informed me that the distributor has the title in its catalog, but that it had been placed on "moratorium". In effect it was unavailable to rent.
i checked my local video store and asked, i was informed that such "right wing propaganda" would never, ever be stocked on his shelves. but as i was browsing i did see that the respectable DVD's of Bowling for Columbine and Farenheit 911 were stocked, when asked the manager said that they were highly respected documentaries. so i tore up my membership card and asked this fair minded individual to please remove my information from his computer. so my big question is where am i going to rent movies now?
My local Hollywood Video here in Las Vegas had about 5 copies the day it was released. No problems there.
Netflix?
What's the name of that commie'rat chain?
well it's a local store, no chain involved. here in the sticks we don't have chains of anything. i'm looking into Netflix though seems like a good deal. but the local store is called movie time, in Brandon, SD.
oh and on a big, monstrous side note, it looks like Daschle's going down.
Thanks! And good luck on dumping Dasshole!
There are two BLOCKBUSTER's near where I live. At one location they only had one copy, but it was rented out. At the other they had one also, but no one knew what happened with it.
No problem though, I ordered it from Overstock.com.
Anyway, here's my review that I posted in the CPixel.com FORUM (yes, it contains "adult" material) I post in the ANYTHING GOES category, usually under political topics. This is still the link as of today: http://cpixel.com/forum_posts_display.asp?catid=5&subid=46254
saw it. It was so-so. An uncle of mine who is a Democrat started yelling throughout the viewing, saying he believed Michael Moore over the 9/11 Commission report (which you could get at Borders for about 10 bucks). "Why?," I asked. No answer. Moore said that Saddam never threatened or tried to kill one American, and I jumped in at this point cuz both Fahrenheit and FahrenHYPE left out the fact that Saddam in fact tried to kill a former American president through a terrorist bombing. Pretty late in the film Ron Silver points out how the so-called peace crowd had 8 years from 1937 to stop Hitler before he stopped being a threat "only to those people over there" but the government allowed business as usual instead. The obvious relevance here? How do you protect America from Islamofascism and wmd proliferation before it gets to the point where you don't lose 1,000 troops in two years, but 6,000 like we did at the battle of Iwo Jima alone.
The movie begins by correcting the record about president Bush in the classroom. He sat for 5 minutes, not 7. The film makes the point that the facts DO matter, so it begins that way exposing some of the deciets from F 911. Hence the yelling Democrat. LOL.
[Maybe some of you guys could help me out a bit over there and Freep the political FORUMS there a few days before the election. There's some Kerry supporters there.]
Thanks everyone for following up. I love this place.
I love my job. I love my boss...seriously...well, I have a great deal of respect and admiration for him.
I'm having a good day...can you tell? :{)
Oh good - here's hoping my Blockbuster in Canada will carry it.
Netflix. I watch FahrenHYPE from them just a couple days ago.
In our rural North Carolina video store we have approx 13 copies of Farenhiet 911 and just one of FarenHype. The one copy is usually available.
I got it from Netflix, too. I was pleasantly surprised to receive it so quickly since it was still marked as a "Very Long Wait". It's an excellent pre-election watch.
Just watched it tonight... also rented from Netflix! Blockbuster and Walmart do not rent FarenHYPE online. I complained to both online stores since they are renting out moore's work of fiction.
Michael Moore invested his entire reputation as a documentary filmmaker in that hatchet job, and never seemed to think beyond the election.
What did Mike get for his troubles? W won. And now Moore gets to spend the rest of his life defending a movie that is being picked apart on the facts. His 'Man of the People' image is gone, replaced by a new public persona of political hack.
