So your plan is to wait for the economy to improve for over 88 million Mexicans while doing nothing to strengthen the border. Unbelievable!
Nashville, Tennessee already has its Little Kurdistan and other Tennessee towns now have their Mexican enclaves. I for one would like to see some lower immigration figures before Mexico has a competitive economy.
Cutting the immigration numbers drastically is possible without building the Great Wall or .....even more difficult .....producing a Great Leap Forward in Mexican living standards.

The old rules and old logic no longer apply. My partisan loyalty is strong, but my loyalty to the safety of my fellow Americans is stronger. Bush is better than Kerry, but Bush is TOO soft yet to carry on a proper war on terror. Deep down, we all know this to be true. He will eventually be forced to get tough, after its too late I suspect.
Don't put words into my mouth. Its a poor debating tactic. My "plan" is certainly not to try to bankrupt my own country by undertaking the largest public works project in the history of the world. For doing so would by necessity take money away from those programs that DO work for reducing illegal immigration.

Helping Mexico have a vigorous economy works on both ends - it helps ensure that those who are already there stay there and attracts those who are here back over there.

No, it is quite "hands on". It involves stimulating the economy in Mexico and making it a more attractive place for its own citizens to work and make money. In short, removing the motivation of its citizens to come here. And its a plan that is surely more feasible than just building humongous walls or land-mining the desert between our countries.

There is virtually NO WAY these borders can be secured. No matter what your imagination says. This is a none issue only raised to attempt to destroy Bush.

As for threats, I'm a heck of a lot more concerned about good old voter fraud perpetrated by good old American citizens like George Soros than any presupposed "wave" of fraudulent voters coming from Mexico. There are a lot more Democrat "voters" buried in the graveyards of our nation than there are illegals who are instructed to vote for the Democrat.

There is corruption everywhere - Mexico is not unique in that. Using that logic, you must be opposed to the War in Iraq and Afghanistan because of the massive corruption in their leadership as well. Further, you must have been out there protesting Ronald Reagan in the 80s - the Communist countries were corrupt as well. But we managed to muddle through those instances.
And these terrorists have no problem in tormenting and then killing little children.

Why can't you focus on the terror threat? Also, why don't you tell me how the Mexicans handle their border with Guatemala? Is it open? Do you know? Did they address this issue on the talking points from which you are posting?

As for terrorists, I'm for keeping them out and against the false security of some of the methods proposed in this thread. We have a new Department of Homeland Security whose members spend just about every waking moment trying to figure out how to accomplish the goal you mentioned.
So let's turn this around - if you have such a great solution to the problem of keeping terrorists out, why aren't you working for the DHS right now? Or, is it enough for you simply to pontificate and wring your hands about this problem on FreeRepublic? Crying and whining won't keep a single terrorist out of our country.
