Calling Obama is a carpetbagger is intellectually offensive, because we know it's not true.
Instead, use this: He twice voted against bills prohibiting tax funding of abortions. In April 2002, he voted against a bill to protect babies born alive after a failed abortion procedure.
Don't pick on the man's given name, because that's offensive to every one of us who uses the name our parents gave us.
Instead, use this: In 1999, Obama voted against requiring school boards to put Internet pornography filters on school computers meant for students' use. In 2001, he voted "present" on a bill to keep pornographic book and video stores and strip clubs from setting up within 1,000 feet of schools and churches. In 2003, he voted in the Health and Human Services Committee for a bill requiring "age appropriate" sex-education for students in kindergarten through fifth grade.
Don't degrade the man over religious leanings which quite frankly, you aren't in a position to prove. You can't know the man's heart, so you don't know if he's a christian, a muslim, or a rastafarian.
Instead, use this: Obama has been markedly soft on crime. In 2001, he voted against a bill that added extra penalties for crimes committed in furtherance of gang activities. He also voted against a bill making it a criminal offense for accused gang members, free on bond or on probation, to associate with known gang members. In 1999, he was the only state senator to vote against a bill prohibiting early prison release for criminal sexual abusers.
See, there are ways to rip Obama to shreds, without resorting to half-truths, dispersions, and outright lies.
You want to discuss voting records? People will not listen to this, they react to things like a person who hides things like their drug addiction and where they were raised and how they were raised. People relate to these things, not voting records, look at the presidentail race, what are people looking at, not Kerry's voting record.
Yeesh, no wonder he's called the rising star of the Democrats.
