Story on MSN website is stating the accuser will drop the case all together and go for the civil action.

Fame does not change whether or not someone can be defamed or slandered. What it changes is what you must show, intent to harm, to collect damages.

I wasn't clear in what I was saying; he can plead down but under Colorado law there is no way he cannot register as a sex offender.

Re Howlin's comment: He knew LAST OCTOBER that there was another man involved AFTER the fact.

Well, it is obvious that Howlin doesn't know much about rape and how women act after being raped. My friend runs a woman's shelter and gives many training sessions to police officers in North Carolina. One of her techniques is to pick an officer and have him leave the room. They she explains that many women have a reaction to rape that many men don't understand and that she plans to demonstrate as an example of NOT JUDGING THE WOMAN INCORRECTLY. She then proceeds to flirt with and place her hands on the policeman's arms and rubs them while telling him what happened and also crying. The unsuspecting policeman almost always freaks out about it and in discussion afterwards tells her that he didn't believe she was really raped.

The truth is that a large percentage of woman use sex as a type of comfort to bring back some normalcy in their minds after being raped. It is more common that most people think. In fact, last night O'Reilly had a rape counselor on that same almost the same thing.

Big mistake. He should file a civil case against her.

What does Shaq know that would cause him to say this now and how is his being pulled into this rape case related to his trade ?

Shaq disliked Kobe prior to this whole incident and is prone to making all sorts of goofy statements.

Figures you'd put a lot of stock suddenly in what he has to say now.

Kobe is ruined and he bears the blame regardless of whether the accuser is telling the truth or not. Celebrities have to protect their reputations and he was promoted as the "All-American Good Guy" and his endorsement deals were based on that. He knew he was a target. We all have to0 deal with the consequences of out actions.

Think about the transcript yesterday. The judge said no plea if I set a trial date. Would the judge have said that if it was true you can not plea down the charge.

Face it, you can pass all the laws you want against plea bargans, but if the DA drops the charges the court can do nothing. If the DA refiles 3rd degree assault charges, the court can do nothing. Laws trying to stop plea barganing are basically a waste of time.

With the florida woman in the news (even if she doesn't testify) we are looking a the Mike Tysonization of Kobe.

I'd be interested in knowing if people believe that a 20 year old boy "hitting" on a young woman who had already given her his telephone number is sexual assault, especially since when she rejected him, he just laughed and walked away?

Is that what this PC country has come to?

It's not only what Shaq obviously knows about Kobe since they travel together, there is now another witness that has come forward and plans to testify AGAINST Kobe.

Trust me, Kobe has done this before many times.

The dealing deadline was July 28th, if I'm not mistaken.

From what I heard, Kobe would need Dave Chapelle on the jury to get off! (lol)

No what I told you earlier is correct. No one is exempt. Rather with public persons you must prove intent to harm. That merely makes it harder to prove slander. It makes no one exempt.
