A 24-foot-long ''Go Bush" banner hanging on a pizza shop across from the FleetCenter has drawn plenty of attention amid preparations for the Democratic National Convention this week. But yesterday, a city inspector stopped by and slapped Halftime Pizza with a citation for hanging an unlicensed banner.

Profanity isn't petty, and it is also not protected speech. A society that resorts to its common use eventually degenerates into a society which not only permits the pornography you are fighting, but oppresses truly protected free speech from fine citizens and patriots like Mr. Pasquale. Yes. And this is what I meant by saying people like Luis (or people -- us, on opur side) who do this blur the line between conservative and liberal and cause a general confusion and apathy.
It dilutes the true conservatism and values that emanate from it that we do need to win this war.
If we comport ourselves along the lines of the profane and obscene liberals, e.g. Whoopi Goldberg we just alientate many allies and weaken our own base and positions.
I saw a great post on this topic where the Pizza man is being selectively cited because the democrat powerbase of Boston doesn't like the sign near the convention. The sign is too good.
But then to have it followed by an oscene graphic made worse by the fact that it is Uncle Sam making the obscene gesture just tarnishes the thread.
Luis, I think your heart is in the right place but you need to clean up your act a bit.
Stop lowering yourself to Whoopi Goldberg level and going on attack at the slightest or fair comment.

Forty to fifty FReepers posted in this thread who didn't have a problem with the graphic, including the first Mod you called in; three or four found the graphic inappropriate. You and TOUGH STUFF decided that only YOUR standards can apply and proceeded to systematically destroy the thread, and foul up whatever good I may have been able to do for this courageous man.
Don't take the high road here, it does not belong to you.
The graphic is still on the thread, and you haven't been able to do a thing about it.
Good bye, I have better things to do than to argue with you.
Oh, one last thing...I've printed this thread, and mailed it to Mr. Pasquale, graphic and all, I'm sure that he will thank you for nothing, just as he did the DNC.

Howie Carr pointed out on his show that just about every saloon within half a mile of the Fleet Center has a "Budweiser Welcomes the DNC" banner out. Besides, I don't think you need a permit for a political banner, only a commerical banner.

Wonder if Boston's mayor has ever heard of Art 14 of the US Constitution?

Earlier on the thread, before it degenerated into a flame fest over the political correctness of Uncle Sam shooting a bird, someone said that the city had backed off the fines.
That wouldn't satisfy me if I owned the place, I would remind the city officials of their duty to protect my place of business from vandalism.

Take a gander at this.
I've been offending the sensitive sensibilities of pure-as-the-driven-snow FReepers again.

Okay,I've taken a spin around this thread and have to admit that this is one of THE most ridiculous flame threads EVER in FR's history.
Some people (not YOU,Luis)went out of their way to set you up/bait/and flame. Why it's still up,is beyond me.Why some people still have posting privileges is also quite beyond me.

Re your #170:
"Inferring any long time FR poster and activist is a DU troll is particularly reprovable."
...While all of this venomous spew gratuitously directed to our Amigo Luis here, who just tried to contribute what started out to be a really interesting topic, is perfectly appropriate and acceptable, eh?
Really?
My, my; things have changed in here, haven't they?

I pulled the graphic from a 9/11 Memorial thread in which JimRob participated in, I guess he didn't mind it then, did he?

I showed my sons the pic and let them read the thread. My youngest asked what junior high do those guys go to (not you or your defenders).
