It took guts to admit to your former drug use.

You and Dane are both admitted recovering drug addicts.

Recovering alcoholics often have little sympathy for alcohol users that are not in recovery and who refuse to see the destruction that their addiction causes to themselves and their families. They often forget the weakness in themselves that caused their destructive behavior and become intolerant and judgemental toward others who haven't "seen the light".

I suspect recovering drug addicts are the same in that respect.
You and Dane bear that observation out.
