YOKOSUKA — The U.S. aircraft carrier Kitty Hawk left its home port of Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture, on Monday morning, to participate in one of the largest exercises conducted by the U.S. Navy, U.S. military officials said.

The Kitty Hawk will join the U.S. nuclear aircraft carrier John C. Stennis in the western Pacific in taking part in Summer Pulse 2004, the U.S. Navy's first exercise under its new operational construct, the Fleet Response Plan, the officials said. (Kyodo News)
