I'm flying NW through Detroit in a few weeks and reports like this are making me more than a bit edgy. I keep telling myself that I would quickly intervene to prevent stuff like this to happening on any flight that I'm on, but would I really and at what point?
I don't fly well to begin with but I did last week and I felt pretty comfortable with the level of security. It seemed a bit tighter down in Florida than it did in Newark, but in general I think it's safe. Actually, the turbulance made me more nervous than anything. But I hear you - stories like this certainly don't make it any easier.
If you see jihadis lined up at the loo, break into the line, search the toilet, dump any liquids down the toilet (flushes overboard), replace the liquids with water, so when they mix their brew it doesn't work.
Bring the following supplies:
Swim goggles to protect your eyes from irritants
A few robust pens like metal cross pens, two for you and some for your seatmates.
Syrup of ipecac to insure prompt access to the toilet no matter how many are lined up.
Sit in the isle, the better to trip runners.
(I'm flying in a couple weeks, myself)...
WHAT CAN FREQUENT FREEPER FLIERS DO?
Perhaps at least TMMMER'S could note when they are flying on maybe a FLIGHT SCHEDULE thread or some such? And at least be quick to support one another.
Perhaps FREEPER FLIERS would do well to scan their flight members and identify evidently robust and assertive, strong fellow passengers while in the waiting lounge.
Perhaps even wisely approach them and let them know that we are ready and will be quick to take action if a crisis develops and would appreciate their being on our side or some such???
Perhaps notifying stewards that we are alert to the ME's on the flight and will be quick to help out if needed.
Any other ideas????
