Thank you for the help in case of having to find an alternate route. I think the 67 to 15 and then Del Dios may be the best bet. I'm not sure on the 56 as I'm wondering if more people might use it in the morning since it's been talked about so much on the news lately. We're not going to leave until around 9:30 so hopefully most of the traffic will be cleared out (I can dream can't I?)
It definately is a lot worse than what they originally were saying. I've not heard how many they had to evacuate from the area. Only heard about them telling people to stay inside and not to allow the outside air in.
Bad situation here.
Actually, what's probably best, is take 67 and then turn right at the light near the bottom of the grade (onto Espola) and take Espola the three miles or so it is to Pomerado Road (past the high school, huge curve to the left in the road after that) and then turn right onto Pomerado (shell gas station and Alberstons on the corner) and take that to 15... Then you only have to go one exit to Via Rancho to take Del Dios...
And yeah, it's definitely worse...they're saying all the alternate routes and surface streets are at a stand still now, and the CHP guy didn't sound at all convinced that even a reasonable morning hour is feasible.
I have a feeling A LOT of folks will be staying home (as happened back in Oct. with the fires) in part just b/c logistically so many people are pretty stuck or it will take them hours to do what should take 1 hour under the typical "worst" case scenario situation.
Send me a freepmail and I'll give you my mobile # b/c I can see the freeway from here and can help if the back routes are worse in the morning than you expected!
