Yeah, that's what I've heard ... but it should've raised a red flag to those security people. Oh, well - the damage has been done. We can only pray nothing like this ever happens again.

Ya know... if I were a security person, and I screened four swarthy men in a row who each had a box cutter, I think I'd wonder what that was all about. But I don't know that I would have, or could have, done anything about it at the time (other than to ask if they all worked in a warehouse, jokingly) because they were legal carry on at that time...
But since it's not likely that all four of these hijackers were screened by the same person... let's say each guy was screened by a different screener... then one box cutter on one swarthy guy wouldn't draw attention.
In other words, nowadays, with so many screeners, you could have 4 guys go through with something suspicious, but unless the same screener saw all 4 guys, it might not be enough suspicion to warrant action. Who knows.
